Celtic v Motherwell (Match Stats)

Celtic 1 xG 2.18 (McGregor 24) Motherwell 1 xG 0.57 (van Veen 55) 50% of Celtic's xG came in the last quarter with 1.09 xG coming in that time period.

Celtic only had 1.71 Post Shot xG. 45% of Celtic's attacks came down the right and that was 12% more than the attacks from the left. That's the 2nd biggest variance favouring the right and the 2nd highest for the right hand side this season. The biggest variance and the highest for the right hand side was against Motherwell again at home in October where it was 33% left and 47% right.

Do Motherwell have tactics to nullify Taylor's build up play? Or is there another reason for this right hand side bias against them? Averages for the season are 40% left and 35% right.

Celtic lined up with;

  • Hart

  • Johnston, Carter-Vickers, Starfelt and Taylor

  • Iwata, McGregor and O'Riley

  • Haksabanovic, Kyogo and Maeda

One change to the line up from last weekend with Carter-Vickers coming in for the Kobayashi.

Welsh dropped out the squad due to Carter-Vickers return. Forrest, Abada, Hatate and Jota were also missing from the squad.

Mooy, Oh, Vata and Turnbull came on as subs while Bain, Kobayashi, Bernabei, Ralston and Summers were unused subs.

Alistair Johnston had the most passes at 107. That's the only time a right back has had the most passes for Celtic this season.

Oh had the most xG at 0.76 although his Post Shot xG was 0. O'Riley had the most xA at 0.76.
