Kilmarnock v Celtic (Match Stats)

Kilmarnock 1

xG 1.72

(Donnelly 45)

Celtic 4

xG 2.40

(Kyogo 7, Maeda 12 and O'Riley 18 & 27)

Amazingly Kilmarnock had a Non Penalty xG of 1.72 to Celtic's 1.61. That's only the 3rd time this season domestically that Celtic's opponents have had a better NP xG than Celtic. Kilmarnock (in the League Cup Semi Final) were also the opponents in one of the other two times.

Game state a big reason for this with Celtic already having wrapped up the game by 27 minutes.

65% of Celtic's xG came in the first quarter of the game and then Kilmarnock beat Celtic for xG in the other 3 quarters.

It's was Celtic's 3rd highest 1st half xG of the season and 4th lowest 2nd half xG of the season.

Celtic lined up with;

  • Hart

  • Johnston, Starfelt , Kobayashi and Taylor

  • Iwata, McGregor and O'Riley

  • Haksabanovic, Kyogo and Maeda

There were three changes to the line up from last weekend with Iwata coming in for Mooy and Haksabanovic and Kobayashi coming in for the missing duo of Carter-Vickers and Jota. Rested being the thoughts on Carter-Vickers and Jota's omission from the squad.

Summers and Ralston coming into the squad to replace Carter-Vickers and Jota.

Forrest, Hatate and Abada were still missing from the squad.

Oh, Turnbull, Mooy, Vata and Summers came on as subs for Kyogo, McGregor, O'Riley, Maeda and Haksabanovic. Summers making his Celtic debut. Bernabei, Ralston, Welsh and Bain were the unsused subs.

Best contributors for xG were Kyogo 1.03, Maeda 0.45 and O'Riley 0.42 with Kyogo's including 0.79 for the penalty. For xA it was Johnston 0.42, Iwata 0.34 and Mooy 0.31.

Haksabanovic didn't take advantage of his rare start with 0 xG and only 0.06 xA.

Kobayashi played the most passes with 130 at 93% accuracy and he also received the most passes at 104 with 34 of them coming from Starfelt.
