Bitton sent off (81 mins)
Unlike our season average we had more xG in the second half (2.1) than the first (1.4) however our possession was greater in the first half at 78% (v 72% in the second half).
40% of our xG coming in the first half when our season average is 54% in the first half.
Overall match possession for Celtic was 76% and touches were 919 v 446.
The team line up was;
- 15 Hart
- 56 Ralston, 20 Carter-Vickers, 4 Starfelt and 5 Scales
- 33 O'Riley, 6 Bitton and 41 Hatate
- 11 Abada, 7 Giakoumakis and 49 Forrest
There were 3 changes from the game against Hearts during the week with Juranovic and Taylor making way at full back for Ralston and Scales and Abada came in for Jota.
I mentioned in my match preview I thought Abada would come in as he gets and creates more chances.
Unusual for Ange he made two changes at half time with Juranovic and Jota coming on to replace Scales and Forrest on the left hand side.
Then Taylor and Doak came on for Ralston and Hatate. With Doak going wide and Abada playing in behind Giakoumakis. After Bitton was sent off McCarthy was brought on for Giakoumakis.
Ben Doak was making his debut at 16 years and 79 days which is 8 days off the record that Jack Aitchison has as the youngest ever Celtic player.
Doak had 17 touches and 13 of them were in the channel outside of the 18 yard box giving the team plenty of width. His other 4 touches were in the box.
Carter-Vickers had the most touches at 115 which was the exact same touches as he had in the previous home game against Dundee United. However what was interesting to note is that in that game McCarthy and Soro combined (they played a half each) had 67 touches versus Bitton's 98 and Rogic had 60 touches versus O'Riley's 95.
For NP xG it was;
- Giakoumakis 1.3
- Abada 1.21
- O'Riley 0.47
- Carter-Vickers 0.15
- Starfelt 0.12
- Juranovic 0.09
- Doak 0.05
- Forrest 0.05
- Ralston 0.03
- Hatate 0.02
For xA it was;
- Jota 0.55
- O'Riley 0.53 from an another impressive 4 key passes.
- Abada 0.39
- Juranovic 0.28
- Bitton 0.1
- Hatate 0.18
O'Riley was man of the match again with a rating of 8.3 (WhoScored) and 8.42 (FotMob) with Siegrist and Carter-Vickers next in the ratings.
O'Riley also won 5 of his 7 tackles.
Starfelt won 100% of his aerial duels but only actually had 3 of them while Carter-Vickers won 9 of his 12.
