Motherwell 1
xG 0.82
Spittal 90+5
Celtic 2
xG 1.68
Palma 87
O'Riley 90+7
Celtic had 2.04 xPts in this game which was the lowest of any game this season out with the Rangers game.
Celtic had 24 shots at goal in this game which was the most shots in any game this season with the previous highest being 19.
However xG per shot was only 0.07 which is lowest of this season (domestically) and it was only lower than that twice last season (both v St Mirren).
Although Celtic's 17 shots in the box is more than any other this season and more than all the league games last season with the exception of the 9-0 victory at Tannadice.
Both teams increased their xG each quarter of the game with Celtic edging it each quarter.
Celtic had 709 passes which was 28% up on the passes from the 2-1 victory at Fir Park in the league last year and Celtic's 281 final third passes was 33% up on last season's fixture. March 2018 was the last time Celtic played at Fir Park and were leading for less than 46 minutes in total in this fixture. So for Celtic to be leading for only 9 minutes in total in this game it doesn't compare well to recent trips to Motherwell. Celtic lined up with;
Bain
Johnston, Lagerbielke, Scales and Taylor
O'Riley, McGregor and Hatate
Yang, Kyogo and Maeda
Two changes from last week with Bain coming in for the suspended Hart and Yang coming in for Forrest.
Carter-Vickers, Nawrocki, Welsh and Abada were all still out injured.
Forrest, Phillips, Turnbull, Oh and Palma all came on as subs for Yang, Lagerbielke, Hatate, Oh and Maeda. Oh came on as a sub for the 5th game in a row.
Bernardo dropped out of the squad to make way for Phillips coming back from injury and Siegrist came in to the squad due to Hart's suspension.
Ralston and Holm were unused subs like they were last week and Siegrist and Iwata were the other two unused subs. Best performers in this game for xG were O'Riley 0.53 and Forrest 0.23.
Best for xA for Celtic were Taylor 0.79 and O'Riley 0.33.
Top goal contributors combined were O'Riley and Taylor on 0.86.
Top rated players (FotMob and WhoScored combined) were O'Riley 8.7, Taylor 8.2 and Scales 8.0. Lowest rated players were Yang 6.2, Kyogo 6.5 and Bain 6.8.
McGregor had the most passes in the game with 109 accurate passes and this is the first time this season McGregor has had this honour. 34 of them were to Taylor and that was the highest combination of passes between any two players in the game.
McGregor also received the most passes at 97 with 17 coming from Scales and 17 from O'Riley.
McGregor's excellent 96% accuracy was a key reason why ended up with the high amount of accurate passes and it was well up on his 87% last week.
