Preview (Dundee v Celtic)


Dundee are 2nd bottom with only 10 points from 12 games and they suffered a 5-0 defeat in their 2nd last game which was at home to Ross County. They did however have a 1-0 win away to St Mirren last week. Their line up for the last 2 games has been 4-3-3 although that can be a 4-5-1 at times with the wide players retreating. Their average player positions for their last two games are below.


  • In goals they have Latvian 1 Adam Legzdins who was on the books of Burnley till December 2018 but didn't play a first team game. He did play for Birmingham, Derby and Burton.

  • At right back is 2 Cameron Kerr who's had a couple of loans spells at Peterhead.

  • Centre backs are 5 Ryan Sweeney who they signed from Mansfield Town on a free in the summer and former Dunfermline and Kilmarnock player 14 Lee Ashcroft.

  • Left back is 3 Jordan Marshall who they signed from Queen of the South in 2019.

  • In midfield they have ex Celt 10 Paul McGowan and ex Rangers 26 Charlie Adam. Accompanying them in midfield the last 2 weeks has been 24 Max Anderson who came through the Dundee youth system and ex-Falkirk and Hearts player 6 Jordan McGhee

  • Wide forwards have been ex Dundee Utd and ex Celt 18 Paul McMullan, ex Ayr Utd 17 Luke McCowan and ex Rangers and Hibs 35 Jason Cummings

  • Their centre forwards over the last 2 games have been 2 ex Celts in 23 Cillian Sheridan and 29 Leigh Griffiths although Griffiths can't play in this game as we are still his parent club.

  • Subs used in the last two games (who haven't been mentioned above) have been 9 Danny Mullen (forward) and 16 Christie Elliot (right back).

  • Unused subs in the last two games have been 21 Ian Lawlor (keeper), 4 Liam Fontaine (defender) and 20 Corey Panter (defender).

Top rated players in the last game for Livingston were Legzdins and McMullan against St Mirren and Adam and McMullan against Ross County.

Dundee have the most open play xGA at 1.42 per game and their open play xGA in their last 3 games has been 0.84, 1.75 and 0.50.


In our previous meeting with Dundee this year Dundee had an open play xGA of 5.62.


In their last game 42% of their attacks came down the left but the previous game it was 44% down the right.
